American, born 1935
BiographyDarryl Curran (American, born 1935) completed an associate degree from Ventura College (1958), and a BA and an MA from the University of California, Los Angeles (1960, 1964). His MA was at the school’s newly established photography program, where he studied with Robert Heinecken who was known for pushing the boundaries of photography, both technically and conceptually. In 1967 Curran joined the faculty of California State University, Fullerton, where he founded the Creative Photography BA and MA programs. He founded the photography program at California State University, Fullerton in 1967. His work has been included in several seminal photography exhibitions, including MoMA’s Mirrors and Windows exhibition, and can be found in the collections of Museum of Contemporary Photography, Chicago, IL; National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C.; David Winton Bell Gallery, RI; Los Angeles County Museum of Art, CA; Museum of Contemporary Art, LA, CA; MoMA, NY; Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, MO, Norton Museum, FL; Huntington Library, CA; etc.
