Nicholas ConsoniItalian, 1814 - 1884

Born 1814, in Rieti; died 1884, in Rome.

Consoni studied painting at the academy of fine art in Perugia, where he was a pupil of Sanguinetti. He then studied with Minardi in Rome. Several beautiful mosaics on the façade of the basilica of St Paul were executed after Consoni's original drawing. He also decorated the Vatican Library.
