BiographyBorn in Holyoke, Massachusetts, 1935. Lives in Holyoke.

Professor of Art at Smith College since 1978, Chester Michalik received a B.S. from the Massachusetts College of Art, and an M.F.A. from Boston University. He taught at the Rhode Island School of Design from 1964 to 1978 and he is featured in both the The Seventh Annual Portfolio and the Ninth Annual Portfolio of the Photographic Education Society, Rhode Island School of Design (1973 and 1976, respectively). Starting in 1978, Michalik taught at Smith College, where he is presently Professor Emeritus in the Department of Art.
Michalik’s work has been exhibited and collected by museums across the United States, and he has received numerous grants for travel and teaching in Japan.
