William Ordway Partridge was born on April 11, 1861 in Paris. He trained as a sculptor in Paris, Florence and Rome. He returned to the United States and worked as a Professor of Fine Arts at Columbian University (now George Washington University). He is best known for sculptures of religious and historic figures. His sculptures were exhibited at the World's Columbian Exposition of 1893 in Chicago. He died in New York in 1930.
