Mary Forrer PeirceAmerican, 1838 - 1929

Mary Forrer Peirce was born August 24, 1838, and studied painting with Clara Soule Medlar at Cooper Female Seminary. Prior to returning to Dayton to teach art, she traveled to Munich, Italy and England around 1874 to study art. In addition to teaching, Peirce also founded Dayton's Decorative Art Society. She died September 2, 1929.
