Roman Bronze Works

Roman Bronze Works was founded in New York City in 1897, making it the oldest working foundry in America. R.B.W. was the first foundry in the United States to devote itself exclusively to lost-wax casting, in order to allow for a higher degree clarity and detail. This made casting of the most intricate bronze sculpture possible while incorporating more complex textures.

Among the first Artists to be convinced by the method and commitment to casting fine sculpture was Frederick Remington. By 1901 the sculptor had completely replaced his old sand casting method with the now more impressive Lost Wax casting method.

Through the years, Roman Bronze Works has been associated with many famous organizations and museums, most notably Tiffany & Co., the American Museum of Natural History, Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Whitney Museum of American Art. Several of R.B.W. Sculptures can be found in famous private collections such as John D. Rockefeller, Louis Mayer, Mrs. Andrew Carnegie, R.H.
