Wendell CastleAmerican, born 1932

Graduated from the Univ. of Kansas, Lawrence with a BFA in 1958 and a MFA in 1961. Taught at the Rochester Institute of Technology from 1962-69, at the State Univ. of New

York, Brockport from 1969-80, at the Wendell Castle School in Scottsville, NY from

1980-88, and served as artist-in-residence at the Rochester Institute of Technology from

1984.

Exhibitions: 6th Annual Kansas Designer/Craftsman Exhibition, 1960; Brooklyn

Museum, 1969; Wichita Art Museum, 1969; Taft Museum, Cincinnati, 1985; Detroit

Institute of Arts, 1989; Ulrich Museum of Art, 1994; Memorial Art Gallery, Rochester,

2004, and many more. Awards: Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Grant, 1972; Visual

Artists Fellowship Grant, National Endowment for the Arts, 1988; Gold Medal, American

Craft Council, 1997.
