BiographyRobert Julius Skinner was born in Sonoma, CA on March 9, 1911. Skinner grew up in San Francisco. After graduating from Mission High School, he attended the CSFA for one year. He then established a lettering and sign business in San Francisco and worked for the Examiner. During WWII he worked for the Army Transport Service on the San Francisco waterfront. In 1942 he resumed studies at the CSFA under William Gaw and Spencer Macky. He died in San Francisco on Nov. 27, 2003.
