Born 9 October 1910, in Évora (northern Portugal).

Painter, illustrator, decorative designer.

After first studying art in Portugal, Estrela Faria attended the Paris fine arts school in 1939. In 1948 he was awarded a bursary by the Portuguese government to continue his studies in Paris.

Faria has taken part in many exhibitions both in France and Portugal and received a number of awards including a gold medal at the international exhibition of 1937 and various prizes for displays.

He has executed illustrations for Portuguese and Brazilian magazines and also produced sets for the Portuguese ballet Verde Gaie.
