Craig SublerAmerican, born 1948

Craig Subler’s work has continually focused on eccentric spaces and the transformation of it. His recent work deals with the contrived space of the museum and his paintings, drawings and prints center on the disconnected narrative that results when one traverses the museum’s highly choreographed space.

Subler was a participant in the 2010 DAK-ART: The 9th Biennale of Contemporary African Art in Dakar, Senegal. He has been an artist in residence at the Scuola Internazionale di Grafica in Venice, Italy in 2009 and at the Skopelos Foundation for the Arts in Skopelos, Greece in 2008. In 2006, Subler was a part of the Lighton International Artist Exchange Program to Mali, West Africa and a Charlotte Street Foundation award recipient in 2005.
