Engraver.
Samuel Middiman studied under Byrne and then Wollett and Bartolozzi. He is mainly known for his fine engravings after Berchem, Gainsborough, Zuccarelli and Hearne. He exhibited at the Free Society in 1781, at the Spring Garden from 1773 to 1775 and at the Royal Academy from 1780 to 1795.
His work was very popular in both Britain and continental Europe, notably his series of 53 plates entitled Selected Views in Great Britain (London 1784-1792).
