Stu LevyAmerican, born 1948

Stu Levy was born in Cincinnati in 1948 and is based in Portland, OR. He studied with Ansel Adams

and was an assistant to Adams for his workshops in Yosemite and Carmel. A landscape photographer,

he has also created portraits of artists, including the Grateful Dead (his photographs were included in a

2013 double vinyl album release). He is published several portfolios with Nazareli Press, including Grid

Portraits (2010). His photographs can be found in the collections of the Center for Creative

Photography, Tucson, AZ; Cincinnati Art Musuem, OH; George Eastman House, NY; High Museum of

Art, GA; Museum of Contemporary Photography, IL; Portland Art Museum, OR; and Seattle Art

Museum, WA
