BiographyHe was born in Newark, N.J. and studied at the Newark School of Fine and Industrial Art, the Grand Central School of Art, the Art Students League (under Robert Brackman) and privately with John R. Grabach. In 1950 he was elected a full academician in the National Academy of Design. Gasser won over 100 national exhibition awards including the Hallgarten Prize of the National Academy, the Zabriskie, Osborne, Obrig, Winsor Newton and C.F.S. Prizes at the American Watercolor Society; Philadelphia Club Watercolor Prize; Allied Artists Gold Medal; Silver and Gold Medals at Oakland, Calif., Gold Medal of the Watercolor Society of Alabama; and the Council of American Artists Societies.
