Jacob van der Ulft

Dutch, 1621 - 1689
BiographyBorn 21 December 1627, in Gorkum; died 18 November 1689, in Nordwijk.
Glass painter, painter (gouache), engraver, draughtsman. History painting, mythological subjects, landscapes, landscapes with figures, waterscapes, architectural views, church interiors.

Jacob van der Ulft, who was burgomaster of Gorkum, probably visited Italy on several occasions. Houbraken tells us that he was a glass painter and that he taught the art to Pieter Verboeck, but according to Dr. Wurzbach there may have been some confusion with another older painter of the same name. His surviving work includes a number of etchings.
