BiographyJensen was born in Guatemala City, Guatemala on December 11, 1903 to European parents. After studies in Denmark and a stint as a farmer in Guatemala, Jensen attended art school in San Diego and in Munich with Hans Hofmann in the 1920s. He came to the United States permanently in 1934. He was especially interested in color theory, which he employed in his geometric compositions. Inca and Mayan symbols and theories were also influential in his work. He died in Glen Ridge, New Jersey on April 4, 1981.
