BiographyCarsman, a featured artist in exhibitions throughout the U.S. and internationally, enjoyed a rich and remarkable career. His work is often associated with that of such notable American Realist predecessors and contemporaries as Fairfield Porter, Neil Welliver, Charles Birchfield and Edward Hopper. He has been described as one of the so-called 'New Realist' painters who reestablished the importance of representational imagery in the wake of Abstract Expressionism. During his prolific career, he was represented by such prominent New York art galleries as Graham, Hammer, and Fischbach Galleries, and well received by the critics of important art journals such as Art News and Arts Magazine. He also exhibited with many leading artists of the 1970s and 1980s, including Andy Warhol at Tower Gallery, Southampton, in 1982.
