Gordon Gilkey
American
He earned a B.A. and M.F.A. from the University of Oregon and was Professor of Art History and Department Chair at Oregon State University from 1947 to 1964.
From an article of the St. Louis Globe-Democrat of April 2, 1940:
The article says that Gilkey was having a one-man show at the St. Louis (Missouri) Art Center. It describes him as "instructor in art at Stephens College, Columbia, Missouri". It also describes Gilkey as "a young Oregonian..a master of line and of form, with the result that his etchings of the recent New York World's Fair, which make up the bulk of his showing, are admirable...." It also included character studies of anonymous individuals, portraits of personages such as Toscanini and Paderewski, and some landscapes of Oregon scenes.
