Forbes Whiteside
American, 1918 - 2015
Since 1961 Whiteside has participated in numerous May Shows, regional juried exhibitions sponsored by the Cleveland Museum of Art. He won recognition in 1973 for an image that was part of a series of colored photographs made using a black-and-white developing process. Fascinated with color and perception, he has pursued several related educational projects, lecturing on the subject at the Chicago Art Institute, the Akron Art Museum, the Cleveland Museum of Art, and the National Museum of American Art, Washington, D.C. In 1988 Whiteside purchased an abandoned hydroelectric plant in Little Falls, New York, converting the space into a not-for-profit facility for visual and performing arts.
