BiographyJerry Morris is a retired professor of art education and former Chair of the Art Department at Miami University. In 1973, he completed his Doctorate in Art Education at The Pennsylvania State University. Prior to that, Dr. Morris received an M.A. degree in Art Education and a B.A. degree in Art Education from Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia.

Before coming to Miami University, Dr. Morris was an art teacher in the public schools of Ashland, Kentucky and taught at Glenville State College in Glenville, West Virginia.

Dr. Morris' publications include several articles which have appeared in state and national publications. These include Studies in Art Education, Review of Research in Visual Arts Education, Art Education Journal, the National Art Education Association Newsletter. Dr. Morris has presented several papers at state and national conferences and has published numerous chapters which have appeared in such books as Visual Arts Resource Handbook,The International Encyclopedia of Education, and The History of Art Education.

Dr. Morris has served in several consulting roles with local and regional school districts regarding curriculum development and revision. He has also served as editor for Ohio Art Education publications, an editorial consultant for the Review of Research in Visual Arts Education, and he has served on the Board of Directors of the Ohio Art Education Association.

Dr. Morris' research interests have focused upon the development of art-related attitudes and art education history. His artistic interests lie in the area of woodcut printing and construction of 18th Century firearms.
