BiographyLou Stoumen (American, 1917-1991) was both a photographer and filmmaker, and served as a professor at UCLA's Film Department. He won two Academy Awards and was nominated for a third for documentary films. Several career retrospectives of his work toured the country in the 1980s and 1990s including at the San Diego Museum of Photographic Arts (which houses the bulk of his estate) and International Center of Photography.
