BiographyJohn Szarkowski (American, 1925–2007). A photographer, curator and critic, from 1962–1991, Szarkowski was the director of photography at the Museum of Modern Art, New York. The recipient of two Guggenheim Fellowships, Szarkowski’s book Looking at Photographs, 1973, has been a staple in college photography history courses. In numerous museum collections, including MoMA, the Victoria & Albert, and the Center for Creative Photography, Tucson, this will be the first work to join the DAI collection.
