Biography"…a search began [at the Dayton Art Institute] for instructors to fill the newly created teaching posts for the fall term of 1926. John King, because of previous commitments in Cincinnati, assumed his duties drawing and painting instructor with the beginning of classes in February 1927. John King was born in Richmond, Indiana on July 1, 1897. He decided early in life to become an artist. He attended Earlham College and studied with Herman Wessel at the Cincinnati Art Academy, where he met and later married Clara Winston, who was also a student at the Art Academy. He served as visiting instructor at the University of Cincinnati, John Herron Art Institute, Earlham College and Miami University (Oxford)."
