BiographyPieter de Jode II
Flanders, 1606 - 1674

He learned drawing and engraving from his father, Pieter de Jode I (1570–1634), whose engravings were a source for Karel van Mander. He travelled to Paris with him to make engravings, and on his return he married Justa Galle, the widow of Adriaen Collaert and the daughter of Philip Galle.
He started working for Anthony van Dyck as an engraver for his Iconography series that was published over several decades. For this project he accompanied Van Dyck several times to England.

After the death of Van Dyck, he continued to work on the Iconography series, in collaboration with other engravers employed by the publisher Gillis Hendricx in Antwerp.
