BiographySister Mary Alice McFarland of the Sisters of Charity at Mount St. Joseph was a local radiological pioneer of another variety. While supervisingthe radiology department at Cincinnati's Good Samaritan Hospital, she created a technique for x-raying flowers. The results were so pleasing that she made prints called Flor de Rey and patented the process. Today, the sister's prints decorate the walls in doctor's offices and private homes, and some are in a collection at the Dayton Art Institute.
