Kaiho Yusetsu was a yamato-e painter and a disciple of his father Kaiho Yusho (1533-1615). He was also influenced by the Kano school. He worked at court in Kyoto and later in Edo (now Tokyo). A number of his works survive, including the twelve scrolls of the Taiheiki Emaki (Handscroll of the Chronicle of Great Peace), which are attributed to him. He also painted landscapes.
