Georges Ferdinand Bigot (1860-1927) was a French artist, cartoonist. He had traditional art trainings under Jean-Leon Gerome and Carolus-Duran at the École des Beaux Arts in Paris. He worked as illustrator in La Vie Moderne in 1880s. In 1892, Bigot travelled to Japan to study woodblock printing. He stayed in Japan for 18 years depicting the lives of Japanese in satirical, sometimes lyrical manners. He published his political satires and other illustrations in the magazine "Toba-e", which was intended for the foreigners community in Japan. He returned to France in 1900.
