BiographyFrancis Legat studied under Alexander Runciman in Edinburgh. In 1780 he went to London where he soon achieved success. He was notably employed by the distinguished publisher Boydell. He was appointed engraver to the Prince of Wales. His work was in the style of Sir Robert Strange.
