He has been in over 60 group and invitational exhibitions. His work is included in numerous public and private collections such as the McClung Museum University of Tennessee in Knoxviile; the J.B. About his work, Professor Montgomery writes, "My primary interest has always been in the art of drawing, and of all its multiple aspects. I also find direct connections between drawing and other works on paper such as printmaking and photography. My work refers to personal themes and imagery developed over the course of my lifetime. In my study of still-life and figurative resources, I reduce form and texture to it's tonal essence, erasing all extraneous factors. In my imagery, I attempt to merge both earthly and ethereal qualities."
