Kishi Chikudo
Japanese, 1826 - 1897
Painter. Landscapes, animals.
After a difficult beginning, during which he struggled to make a living as a yuzen textile dyer, Chikudo became the pupil of Kishi Renzan of the Kano school. By the end of his life he was a member of the Imperial Art Academy and lived in Kyoto, where he specialised in painting landscapes and animals.
