BiographyKai Nielsen (Dutch, 1882–1924). Nielsen was an early Dutch sculptor of rounded, female forms. Nielsen studied in Copenhagen and was recognized in 1908, when his sculpture Naked was acquired by the Dutch National Gallery. He quickly became Denmark’s leading figurative sculptor, combining classical design with modern forms. His work is in numerous public settings in Denmark, while the Faaborg Museum, Denmark, holds numerous examples of his work. This will be the first by Nielsen to join the collection.
